about me

Hi, I'm the hands and heart behind Mershroomery!

The journey to crafting unique, lighted mushroom sculptures began unexpectedly after a career change. For years, I applied my creativity as a Graphic Designer and Art Director for a crafty fashion print publication, designing beautiful layouts and directing visual narratives. When that chapter closed, I didn't just look for a new job—I took time to “do whatever I want” and I got reacquainted with my love for miniatures and sculpture.

Mershroomery is the result of merging a diverse set of technical and artistic skills into something truly unique. Every piece is a meticulously crafted diorama that brings a tiny, glowing world to life. This process involves a fascinating mix of old and new techniques:

  • Digital Design & Fabrication: I designed the unique bases that house the dioramas using Blender, continually prototyping and refining the models through 3D printing.

  • Electronics & Engineering: I learned basic electronics soldering to wire the custom LED lighting, evolving the pieces from simple battery operation to reliable, corded USB power.

  • Sculpture & Painting: I hand-sculpt the various mushrooms using air-dry clay, bringing them to life with detail and vibrant color using an airbrush.

My background in visual design taught me the power of detail, composition, and presentation. Now, that expertise is poured into ensuring every Mershroomery piece is a one-of-a-kind work of art—a blend of technical skill and imaginative storytelling. I love combining the tangible craft of sculpting with the precise world of electronics and 3D design, making something truly illuminated for your home.

I hope these little glowing worlds spark as much joy for you as they do for me to create!
